Instagram has 400 million users who upload 80 million photos a day so it won’t come as a surprise that you may find oddities on the social network. This time around features this account@sadtopographies that takes screenshots of places that have very melancholic names.
It is interesting that some of these places featured on the Instagram are real life names of man made or natural features you find all over the world. There is usually a backstory on why they were given such depressing names and most of them are due to some events that happened within the locale. Some of these names of features include Depression Pond, Sad road, Gloomy lake, Mistake Island and among the likes.
We have seen other equally awesome Instagram accounts like the one that sarcastically makes fun of shallow captions that are posted by people on the network. My personal favourite is the one that posts satellite photos of man made features which form beautiful patterns from that vantage point
So far the account has 37 posts and has over 15 thousand followers and has the peculiar nature of only taking screenshots of terrain maps. Here are some of the screenshots posted on the account:
