Digital marketing has been an interesting field to watch as companies have been forced to take advantage of the audience in social media sites in a bid to create a good brand for themselves. This has resulted in them analyzing what people are engaging on social media and one of these activities is taking selfies.
Coca-Cola is one company that is known for its marketing and the soft drinks behemoth is not afraid of trying new things to make sure people buy their products. Their latest gimmick attests to this and it is absurd, albeit not weird at all.
This selfie bottle was apparently revealed by Coca-cola Israel and you can see the red contraption at the bottom of the bottle which has the camera. The selfie bottle comes with a sensor that detects when you tilt it at a 70 degree angle which then activates the camera to capture a selfie while taking a sip.
The agency running the campaign gave a statement which was quoted by The Drum: “Users tag themselves and their friends in photos on Coca-Cola’s social media assets. It really does the trick and makes the partygoers more present and active during the event, knowing they can share their special moments just by drinking.”
That is not the first campaign which has decided to use selfies as a trojan horse to please existing and potential customers online. We have seen a selfie spoon (yes really), so the selfie bottle does not take the prize yet in being weird. Be sure to see such weird campaigns like this in the future as we continue embracing digital advertising.
